Site Engineer - Major Highways Infrastructure Scheme\n\nLocation: Manchester\nRate: £375 per day (Outside IR35)\nStart Date: ASAP\nInterviews: Immediate\n\nRole Overview\n\nWe are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a major highways infrastructure scheme in Manchester.\n\nThe project involves significant earthworks and drainage-led construction within a live highways environment, supporting wider motorway widening and junction improvement works.\n\nReporting to the Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in the safe and accurate delivery of earthworks, drainage, and associated highways infrastructure packages.\n\nProject Scope Overview\n\nKey elements of the works include:\n\nLarge-scale earthworks, cut and fill operations, and formation preparation\nHighways drainage installation, diversions, and upgrades\nPavement construction and sub-base works\nMotorway widening and new link road construction\nHighway signage, lighting, and ancillary civil works\nComplex traffic management within a live motorway environment\nSupporting technology and ITS infrastructure installations\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nCarry out setting out and surveying for earthworks, drainage, and highways works.\nSupport bulk earthworks operations including levels, formation control, and quantity checks.\nSet out drainage systems including pipes, manholes, culverts, and attenuation features.\nEnsure works are delivered safely, to specification, on programme, and to required quality standards.\nMaintain accurate site records, QA documentation, as-builts, and daily diaries.\nEnsure permits, RAMS, and inspection records are in place prior to works commencing.\nReview drawings and resolve technical queries with engineering and design teams.\nCoordinate with site teams, supervisors, and subcontractors to support delivery.\nMonitor progress and assist with short-term planning and sequencing of works.\nPromote a Right First Time approach to reduce rework and improve efficiency.\n\nRequirements\n\nProven experience as a Site Engineer on highways or major infrastructure projects.\nStrong experience in earthworks and/or drainage packages.\nConfident in setting out, surveying, and QA processes.\nExperience working in live highway environments is advantageous.\nStrong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.\nStrong commitment to health, safety, and quality delivery.\n\nQualifications\n\nHNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering.\nValid CSCS Card.\n\nWhat's on Offer\n\n£375 per day (Outside IR35).\nImmediate interview and start available.\nLong-term opportunity on a major highways infrastructure scheme.\nStrong exposure to large-scale earthworks and drainage delivery within a complex live highways environment
